A person who is harming or disturbing me is in reality encouraging me to practice patience;
and since it is impossible to make progress on the spiritual path without developing the strong mind of patience, he or she
is of great benefit to me.
Look at samsara; it has no good qualities. Due to the enemy, self-cherishing, a hungry tigress will even devour her own young.
If all the harm, all the fear and all the suffering in this world arise from self-grasping, what need have I for such a great
demon? To be born within samsara is to suffer birth, ageing, sickness and death. I cannot become free from these until I
abandon samsara. It is not death that I fear so much as rebirth, for death is the very nature of my rebirth.

All human beings, whether they are my friends, my enemies, or strangers, have to experience without any choice countless sufferings
such as birth, ageing, illness, pain and death. How wonderful it would be if they could be released from these miseries.
May they be released...

All the happiness there is in the world arises from wishing others to be happy. All the suffering
there is in the world arises from wishing oneself to be happy.
High status soon turns into servitude. Beauty quickly changes, like a flower in the autumn. Wealth is soon lost, as if merely
lent. Life quickly perishes, like lightening in the sky. Do not look for faults in others, but look for faults
in yourself, and purge them like bad blood. Do not contemplate your own good qualities, but contemplate the good qualities
of others, and respect everyone as a servant would.
